In order to safely change your flat tire, you’ll need to be in a safe environment. That means you’ll need to pull over to an area that is clear of oncoming traffic and provides ample room for tire replacement. Once your vehicle is in park and the emergency brakes are on, you’re ready to get started.

First, loosen the wheel lugs on the flat tire with a tire iron. Then you can go ahead and use the jack to raise the vehicle about six inches off the road. Now, remove the wheel lugs and the flat tire completely. After this, place the spare tire on the vehicle and tighten the wheel lugs until the tire is secure. Be sure to lower the vehicle completely to the road before driving off.
