5 Tips from Our Honda Service Center Experts

Do you know what’s a good New Year’s resolution? Making a committed effort to better care for your vehicle. Most people never consider automotive-related resolutions, but we highly recommend it for optimal car performance. Here are some maintenance tips courtesy of our Honda service center near Los Angeles, CA.

1. Change the Oil

Check the oil at least once a month. If the oil level appears thick and darkish, or if it’s below the dip stick’s indicator level, then your car needs an oil change. We suggest bringing your vehicle to the dealership’s service center. If you decide to perform the oil change yourself, be sure you know the type of motor oil needed and how to drain the fluid.

2. Check Belts and Hoses

Open the hood and check all belts and hoses for fraying or too much slack. We suggest having the belts and hoses inspected every time you bring your vehicle in for an inspection.

3. Test the Lights

Inspect the headlights and taillights as well as the brake lights. Replacement bulbs are inexpensive and readily available at your local auto store. However, failing lights may be due to a blown fuse, in which case you’ll require assistance from a technician.

4. Check the Air Filter

You should be able to see through the filter when held against the light. If you can’t, then it’s clogged and needs to be washed or replaced.

5. Check the Windshield Wipers

Damaged wipers may inadequately wick away water or make visibility even worse. Replace if the rubber portion that wipes the windshield appears cracked or peeling off from the metal hinge.

Our service center provides maintenance and inspections for all Honda vehicles, including the Honda Accord and more. Bring your car in if it’s due for an inspection.
