Battery Replacement
Car batteries last an average three to five years, depending on multiple factors like climate and temperature. Be sure to regularly check for corrosion buildup around the terminals. You should also have a mechanic test the battery’s remaining juice with every trip to the dealership service center.
Tire Change
The Van Nuys area isn’t short on potholes and dips in the road. This can damage the tire, not to mention that it also affects tire alignment and balance. Tires on average need to be changed about every six years. Extend the tires’ life by regularly checking tire pressure. Under-inflated tires are a major cause of premature tread wear.
Brake Pad Replacement
Brake pads usually need to be replaced every 40,000 to 50,000 miles. Regardless of mileage, bring your car in for auto servicing if you notice less responsiveness and increased stopping distance when you apply the brakes. Worn brakes can affect your ability to come to a complete stop in an emergency situation.
Oxygen Sensor Replacement
Oxygen sensor replacement is common in older cars. If this component is faulty, it inhibits the vehicle’s ability to detect un-combusted oxygen in the system. A broken sensor may lead to jerkiness and increased idling. It’s also bad for your engine and fuel consumption. Expect to replace the oxygen sensor every 50,000 to 60,000 miles.
