The Honda Civic Type R is Finally Coming to the U.S.

The Honda Civic Type R has long been the holy grail for Honda Civic enthusiasts. The Honda Civic is already the car of choice for drivers looking to take to the streets with a vengeance. But the Honda Civic Type R is really where Honda engineers let loose, equipping the Honda Civic with incredible performance enhancements. The only drawback to this exhilarating Honda vehicle? It’s not available in the U.S. Or at least, it wasn’t. That all changes this year, when the 2018 Honda Civic Type R makes its debut here in the states.
We’re eagerly awaiting the arrival of this fast and furious Honda Civic here at Keyes Honda, and we’ll be sure to provide even more details when it pulls into our dealership here in Van Nuys, CA. But what we do know about the car already is enough to get us excited. A 2.0-liter turbocharged direct-injection four-cylinder engine will be under the hood. The engine will kick out a whopping 306 horsepower, and will generate 295 lb-ft of torque.

A six-speed manual transmission with a rev-matching function will send power to the front wheels. A limited-slip differential comes standard to help you harness all of that power. The 2018 Honda Civic Type R will feature Brembo brakes up front, along with a comprehensively revised suspension system made up of aluminum components to save weight. All of this has been put to the test on the grueling Nürburgring track in Germany, allowing Honda engineers to fine tune their creation and deliver incredible performance.

We love this time of year, as new model year vehicles begin to arrive. The first 2018 Honda model here at our dealership is the 2018 Honda Odyssey, available now and eagerly awaiting a test drive. Stop by and check it out as we anxiously await the arrival of the 2018 Honda Civic Type R!
