What Drivers Need to Know about Choosing the Right Tires

If you made any New Year’s resolutions, chances are they were related to things like getting in better shape or spending more time with your family. But did you make any for your Honda Accord? Without proper care and maintenance, your vehicle won’t give you the best performance, and it may even put you in danger. If, for example, you’ve been driving on the same tires for years, it’s very possible that they need to be replaced, and it’s important to focus on these areas when looking for a new set:

Size

Most tires pretty much look the same, but different types of cars require different sized tires. You should be able to find the size you need on the inside of your driver’s door. There you will see a string of numbers and letters that will tell you the height, width, and diameter.

Original Equipment

When looking for new tires, you can select any brand you like, but your best bet could be to go with the ones that came with your car. These were designed specifically for your Honda Accord, and if you like the way it handles, there may be no reason to choose another kind.

Tire Types

Another important consideration is the type of tire you want to buy. All-season tires are generally good all year long, but right now it could be a wise idea to think about winter tires. While we typically don’t get a lot of harsh weather in Norfolk during the cold months, these tires will give you extra traction for slippery conditions. It should be noted that winter tires shouldn’t be left on all year. There are also other types of tires to consider, such as summer or track and competition, both of which are ideal if you do a lot of highway driving.
