What Does the 2019 Honda Insight Offer LA Drivers?

Long-time fans of the Honda brand will feel a twinge of recognition when they hear the Honda Insight name — followed by a bit of confusion when they realize the 2019 Honda Insight at Keyes Honda looks nothing like the model they remember. And that, it turns out, is a very good thing for Los Angeles car shoppers.

While the Honda Accord Hybrid is popular here, we’re encouraged to see the Honda brand branching out as they expand their hybrid offerings. It’s not just the name that sets the Honda Insight apart. It comes with its own unique style, amenities, and technology, slotting comfortably between the Honda Civic and the Honda Accord in terms of its size and feature set.

The style is backed by some serious substance. A 1.5-liter gas engine doesn’t drive the vehicle; instead, its job is to provide the charging power to the two electric motors that do the heavy lifting. Between them, those motors give you a respectable 151 net horsepower and 197 lb.-ft. of torque.

Because the engine isn’t used for propulsion, there’s no transmission. That means lower weight, with further slimming down accomplished by careful material and design choices. The lower weight, in turn, leads to a great — and more efficient — drive.

Climb inside and you find more to set this car apart. The interior is luxurious, with a dual display as its centerpiece. One side takes the place of the usual instrument cluster, while the other gives easy access to the infotainment system, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto. As with other new Honda cars, there’s also plentiful safety tech, including standard Honda Sensing™, and the optional Honda LaneWatch system.

Angelenos love hybrids, and thanks to Keyes Honda (with an assist from the Honda brand), we’re bringing them even further into the mainstream. Visit us today to see the future of Honda cars. We’re located at 5355 Van Nuys Blvd in Van Nuys, CA.
